These home renovations bring a fantastic return on investment.
We’re in an incredibly hot seller’s market, which is leading some sellers to think they don’t need to make any renovations before listing. So the question of the day is: Do you need to renovate before you list, or is it fine to sell without making any changes? To put it bluntly, you absolutely want to renovate your home before you put it on the market.
Across the board, we’ve found that the return on investment far exceeded the amount of time, energy, and money the renovations required. Renovating doesn’t need to be an expensive undertaking; in fact, some of the best investments will cost you very little. Here are five cost-effective ways you can renovate and update your home:
1. Add a fresh coat of paint. This will lighten up the house and refresh its interior. Gray, white, and beige are among the most popular choices we’ve been seeing.
2. Update the bathrooms. It’s a good idea to recaulk your bathtub area, replace aging vanities, swap out the showerhead, and replace sink faucets.
3. Declutter your home. Clear off countertops in your kitchen and bathrooms, and remove
4. Make your home more energy efficient. For example, you could replace your water heater if it’s in rough shape, and you can also update old appliances. Buyers are often concerned about energy costs, so these changes can go a long way.
5. Update the flooring. Replace worn and out-of-date carpets, or change them out for hardwood floors—they’re incredibly popular with buyers right now.
These are just some of the many ways you can update your home. Every property is different, though, and we’d be happy to come out and show you what you might want to change before listing.
